R18 Cruiser: The Plan

So, my plan was to do a step-by-step customisation of this great heritage bike. The seat is ordered and the custom pipes set. However, in the meantime I started looking at the rear structure and what alternatives there are to shorten this all a bit, with the objective to have the indicators / light and number plate up as far as possible.

In stripping the rear-end I discovered a really robust and complex cast-structure subframe (I told you this was a quality bike). So that makes the whole shortening idea a little more tricky, as its not just a sheet metal mudguard to tackle, but this subframe will also need to be adapted...

I am now looking at alternatives, together with the same guys who did the paint design for the Gulf Racer with me (Brand Launch Solutions). This will involve metal work and therefore also painting. So, this fast-forwards my planning significantly, as I'd only planned to look at paintwork once I had completed the bike.
I'll keep you posted, in the meantime the creative juices are flowing.
