R18 Cruiser: Rear-end

In the interim I decided to make some small changes to the rear of my R18. This included removing the large number plate holder and rear-lights / indicators. In so doing shortening and raising the rear visually.

I found some really compact combination indicators/rear lights from Max-Inc (in Krugersdorp - they are also online). These compact black units blend into the bodywork thus leaving the rear totally uncluttered.

With all my changes to these aftermarket miniature indicators I have had problems with error messages due to changed resistance in the circuit. In this case the rear lights and brake lights did not work at all. So again I needed professional help (my friendly local dealer, BMW Motorrad Fourways) - they fixed the problem for me (see a future post on these issues).

Finally, I have mounted the number plate up on the rear mudguard until I find another solution. In my opinion the rear now looks more fitting to the bike's design and the look I was after. I am still looking at more radical measures, especially the "bopper look", and welcome suggestions!
