R18 Bobber: MAVERICK

The visual theme that I chose for this build is maybe confusing, as the bike is German and my inspiration comes from Hollywood, also I refer to two completely different eras. So the paint theme is an airbrushed look harking back to the era in which the R18 has its roots, an early era of aviation when planes still had visible rivets with pipes straight out for the engine and so on. But since this is a modern bike, with the biggest motor built for a BMW, the “TOP GUN” theme just sounded right. There is a further play on names, which works, as in Top Gun, they flew F18s and this is an R18... So, this build is named MAVERICK.

For the seat I decided to give it the look of a pilot’s Bomber jacket, so it is covered in a light shade of brown leather, with a slightly distressed look. It also has the classic Bomber jacket patches, of course from Top Gun.

The visuals below give some idea of the look, but there is still some work to be done before we have the real thing to look at.
