For the exhaust I wanted to keep the technical specifications intact, in other words not mess with the Cat and various exhaust sensors. I also wanted to free-up that awesome natural boxer sound which is being strangled by EU noise regulations, as I did with my last R18. This time I went for a shortened side-pipe look, suiting the era and my visual theme. Finally, I wanted a totally black exhaust, in keeping with the de-chrome plan mentioned in my last Post. See a progress shot below.

For this I went back to Gert at Dominator exhausts. He again did a great job of fabricating pipes that connect right after the Cat, leaving the technical bits intact, integrating it visually with nice custom heat shields and mounting brackets. I then sent the entire exhaust (headers, Cat, custom slip-ons) to Powerkote to be coated in clack ceramic - I have been ensured that this ceramic coating can take the heat of the headers, but time will tell - I will keep you posted! For now it looks great!

And the sound? You will need to wait until it’s running again for a full sound test, but in the video I have from Gert it sounds pretty promising…
