So this project is complete. I hope I achieved my goal of showing what's possible in a home garage, with just a few tools (the most important is a good set of Torx tools) and no special skills.

The key is having imagination, using local skilled craftsmen to do the special stuff, like the exhaust and the painting, and being able to do a little mechanical work yourself. The craftsmen are here in Gauteng, just waiting for your call (and there are plenty in Cape Town too).

In this vein, I need to thank the following people for their support over the past months - if you follow my tips you might just meet some of them:

Morne, Gert, Werner, Dirk, Max, Gino, Jaques, Deon, Riaan, Veronika and Klaus.

So here are the three stages in visual summary.

OK, that's all from this project, I promise :-). I already have a new design on the drawing board. I'll use similar resources, but will strive to source everything locally, and I'm inspired once again by a look from the 70's racing scene. Watch this space for Café Racer 2...

But first, I'm going to tackle my R18 Cruiser.
